Shinichiro Kawasaki was born in Toyama, Japan. He moved to Los Angeles in 1999, where he started performing live and recording as a guitarist with the likes of Lee Takasugi and Visiting Violette, steel/kit drummer Chili Charles (of Mike Oldfield fame) and his group KUFU, Hollywood Records artist Marie Digby, Emmy-winning composer Misha Segal, and co-founded Los Desnudos who was one of the finalists for 2007 Independent Music Awards (Jam category) As a composer/producer he has also contributed music for SanDisk, Turkey Shoot Music Festival, Japan Self-Defense Airforce, NHK Enterprise, NHK Educational, KDDI, Japan Airline, House Foods and Kao corporation
His 1st self-titled solo effort was released in July 2010, showcasing his own mixture of varying styles ranging from technopop to prog, dub, acid jazz, fusion, metal and drum ‘n’ bass. It was nominated for Independent Music Awards 2010 in Album/Eclectic category. SK hosts MidTones; monthly jam session at Grand Star Jazz Club in Chinatown, providing a space for musicians to explore improvisational capacities based on materials ranging from jazz standards, Yacht Rock hits to J-pop.
SK’s current projects include Jazz, Bossa Nova and Retro styling of Alanna Vicente (and These Fine Gentlemen), TV/game show theme song tribute band The Remotes (who provided music at Creative Emmy Awards from 2013 on), and South Bay-based Classic/Yacht Rock extraordinaire Retrofit.
